Residence Office Campus Allocations Policy
Places on campus are offered randomly.
40% of all places are reserved for first year students (345 places). Entrance Scholars who apply for campus are automatically allocated a place. The usual rent applies. Places are also allocated to First Year Sports Scholars. All other first year places are allocated randomly (with the exception of places allocated to students who have very specific mobility issues, or who are wheelchair users, or who have very specific medical or personal circumstances who require accessible accommodation).
Each year there is an allocation for international students. In general this number is 130 places but this is subject to change depending on the numbers of non-EU international students requiring accommodation.
Current students (those already in NUI Maynooth) can apply for campus in semester 2 each year. In general, rooms are allocated on a random basis, however a person's contribution to university life may be taken into account in the allocations process. For example some sports scholars may receive campus accommodation in second year as well as first year. A student who has made a significant contribution to the extra curricular life of the University may also be taken into consideration. There are 387 places allocated for continuing students (undergraduate and postgraduate).
Students should be aware that they have no guarantee of being allocated campus accommodation from one year to the next.
The behaviour of residents during the academic year is taken into account in the room allocations for the following year. Students should be aware that the list of current students who will have campus issued in April each year ( for the next academic year) is a provisional one and is not fully confirmed until mid June each year.
