Demand for places in on-campus accommodation far exceeds the number of places available, so places are offered following a random selection process. Your application ensures you are included in the draws which allocate places. Making an application does not guarantee you a place.
All information regarding your application will be communicated to you to the email address which you supply on the application form. Please ensure that you check this email address regularly.
This is a mandatory field. Please ensure that you include this number on your application. Otherwise your application may not be processed.
It is essential that you choose the correct category.
New student to NUIM (or SPCM) – you should select this category only if you are a prospective first year student, and are planning to commence your studies in NUIM in September 2013 having applied through the CAO.
40% of places in on-campus accommodation are reserved for students in this category. Entrance Scholars and Sports Scholars are included in this category.
Applications can be submitted until midnight on Thursday 15th August 2013 (the day after the Leaving Certificate results are released).
Continuing student – you should select this category if you were a registered student of NUIM or SPCM in 2012/2013 on any programme or year, and you plan to continue to be a student in 2013/2014. You should also select this category if you are joining NUIM (not in first year) having studied in another college last year, or you are a new postgraduate student.
40% of places in on-campus accommodation are reserved for students in this category.
Applications can be submitted until midnight on Sunday 14th April 2013.
International Student – you should select this category if you are arriving in NUIM as an ERASMUS student, exchange student, or a student recruited by the NUIM International Office. Erasmus students will only receive their number to apply for on-campus accommodation AFTER they have been nominated by their home university and sent their application to the International Office.
14% of places in on-campus accommodation are reserved for students in this category. Applications can be submitted until midnight on Wednesday 31st July 2013 (for students commencing studies in Ireland in September 2013) and until Friday 1st November 2013 (for students commencing studies in Ireland in January 2014).
New student to NUIM (or SPCM): Until midnight on Thursday 15th August 2013 (the day after the Leaving Certificate results are released).
Continuing student: Until midnight on Sunday 14th April 2013.
International Student: Until midnight on Wednesday 31st July 2013 (for students commencing studies in Ireland in September 2013) and until Friday 1st November 2013 (for students commencing studies in Ireland in January 2014).

New students to NUIM (or SPCM): Random selection Process: Entrance Scholars and Sports Scholars who apply for a place in on-campus accommodation are automatically allocated a place. The usual rent applies. All other new student places are allocated randomly (with the exception of places allocated to students who have very specific mobility issues, or who are wheelchair users, or who have very specific medical or personal circumstances who require accessible accommodation).
All prospective new students who have applied online for on-campus accommodation by midnight on Thursday 15th August 2013 and who have been offered an academic place in NUIM or SPCM via the CAO, will be included in the “August” Random Selection Draw, which will take place on Monday 19th August 2013 (following the release of the first round of CAO offers). All available places will be offered from this Draw, and a Waiting List will be created. This Waiting List will be used to re-offer any places which become available due to cancellations. The CAO numbers of the successful applicants and those on the Waiting List will be published on http://residence.nuim.ie/ by noon on Monday 19th August 2013.
All applicants will receive an email from the Residence Office on Tuesday 20th August 2013 informing them of the outcome of this “August” Random Selection Draw. Entrance Scholars and Sports Scholars are included in this category.

Continuing student: Random selection Process: All continuing students who have applied online for on-campus accommodation by Sunday 14th April 2013 will be included in the “April” Random Selection Draw, which will take place on Monday 15th April 2013.
All available places will be offered from this Draw, and a Waiting List will be created. This Waiting List will be used to re-offer any places which become available due to cancellations. The student numbers of the successful applicants and those on the Waiting List will be published on http://residence.nuim.ie/ by noon on Tuesday 16th April 2013.
All applicants will receive an email from the Residence Office on Tuesday 16th April 2013 informing them of the outcome of this “April” Random Selection Draw.

International Student: From 1st August 2013 the Residence Office will allocate places in on-campus accommodation. Some International students are guaranteed places (please check with the University’s International Office for details). All remaining International students will be entered in the “International” Random Selection Draw, which will take place on Wednesday 7th August 2013.
All available places will be offered from this Draw, and a Waiting List will be created. This Waiting List will be used to re-offer any places which become available due to cancellations. The student numbers of the successful applicants and those on the Waiting List will be published on http://residence.nuim.ie/ by noon on Thursday 8th August 2013.
All applicants will receive an email from the Residence Office by Friday 9th August 2013 informing them of the outcome of this “International” Random Selection Draw.

“September” Random Selection Draw:
A final Random Selection Draw will take place on Wednesday 28th August 2013 to fill the remaining 6% of available places. All applicants (who have applied for the first time from Friday 14th August to Tuesday 27th August 2013) will be included in this draw.
Note: You should only submit one application for on-campus accommodation. If you submit more than one application, all previous applications (including all preferences expressed or notes included in those applications) will be discarded and only the latest application will be included in the random selection process.
If you wish to apply for on-campus accommodation you need to fill out the online application form. Simply complete the fields and follow the instructions on the page.
You must enter your CAO/PAC/Student Number.
Confirmation of Your Application: When you have completed the form you will get a pop up message of confirmation of your application. This is not an offer of a room but a confirmation that you have applied. If you want to keep the pop up message as a reference you should copy and paste it into a word document.
How will I know if I have been offered a place on campus? You will receive an offer of a place by e-mail. This e-mail will give you directions on how to pay online for your room. In the e-mail there will be a reference number which you will be required to type in when you are paying online.
How do I pay online? You can pay online using a credit card. If you do not have a credit card please contact your bank about pre-paid credit cards which can also be used.
Do I sign an agreement? Yes you will sign a Campus Occupancy Agreement. You will be sent an email informing you of the room allocation and details on how to access your agreement, medical form and welcome letter. You will need to sign a copy of the agreement and return it to the Residence Office, together with the medical form, before check-in.
