Campus Information for 1st Years

The following information is for students who have just received their CAO offer and want to know what to do next about accommodation.

How do I find out if I have a place on campus?

If you have applied for campus and wish to know if you have a place, please contact the Residence Office when you get your CAO offer to let us know of your intention to study in NUI Maynooth. We will be able to tell you the day after you receive your CAO offer, whether or not you have campus accommodation. You can ring us or e-mail us to find out. Please bear in mind that there will be hundreds of people ringing and that your call may go to voicemail; in this case please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Scholarship Students

At the time of the CAO offers campus application forms will automatically be sent to students who secured over 500 points in their leaving certificate. These forms should be retuned to the Residence Office immediately to let us know you want campus accommodation.

Irish Speakers' Apartments

If you have applied to live in an Irish speakers' apartment and have been accepted to campus, we will do everything to find other Irish speakers to share with you.  Sometimes we have uneven numbers so there may be some non-Irish speakers in you apartment also.  You will be placed in Gweedore Hall where most of our Irish speakers live so you will have opportunity to speak Irish in the apartments.

If you have been offered a place on campus...

A lease and other details of your accommodaiton will be posted to your home address. You will be required to sign the lease and return payment to the Residence Office.

When can I move in?

Your lease commences on Monday 14th September 2009.

Where do I go when I arrive to campus?

If you are staying in Rye Hall or the River Apartments: Avoca, Boyne, Carrick, Dodder, Erne, Foyle, Gweedore, Hurley, Joyce, Killary, Liffey, Moy, Nore, Potters or Quilty Halls please go directly to the River & Rye office on the north campus. This is the newer campus on the Kilcock road. The River & Rye office is in a white circular building. If you come in through the main gate of the north campus turn right and follow the road to the end where you will see the campus accommodation. The Rye and River office is ahead of you on the left. The area will be signposted.

If you are staying in the Village Apartments: Hargadon, Leavey, Mullin or Riordan Halls please collect your key in the Village Apartment Office. Again when you come onto campus follow the road to the right until you reach the campus accommodation. The village apartments office is in the complex on the right hand side. The office will be signposted.

When you arrive on campus you will sign in and be issued with your key or swipecard.

When will my other housemates arrive?

As orientation is taking place on different days, your housemates may not arrive the day you do. Please be aware that you may arrive first to the apartment. Your housemates may not arrive for a day or two.

Welcome Receptions

If you arrive to campus in the week from 14th -18th September please come along to our welcome receptions in the River Apartments Lobby and Lecture Room hosted by the campus social club. If you have arrived to campus and the other people in your apartment haven't arrived don't worry as at 7.30 each evening we will be meeting in the River Apartments to introduce ourselves and it will be a good opportunity to meet other new campus residents.

What do I need to bring with me; pots pans etc?

You will need to bring your own bed linen, pillow, duvet, covers etc.

Each apartment has an inventory for you and all your housemates to sign. In each apartment there are some pots and pans, plates and dishes, cups & glasses and cutlery. You are welcome to bring other utensils if you wish.

Each apartment has a microwave.

So welcome to NUI Maynooth Residences and we hope to see you at the Welcome Receptions on campus and some of the social club events throughout the year.
