Changes in the arrangements for new students wishing to live in on-campus accommodation who are in receipt of Rent Supplement payments from the Department of Social Protection.
As you are aware, in order to qualify for Rent Supplement payments the rent paid to the landlord (that is, the tenant’s contribution plus the Rent Supplement) must not be above the maximum rent level set for the relevant county or area by the Department of Social Protection. As the rent in the NUI Maynooth campus accommodation is now higher that the recently revised limits for Kildare, it is no longer possible for students wishing to avail of Rent Supplement to live in the on-campus accommodation.

(FYI, the relevant rate for NUIM is the “single person in shared accommodation”)
